Microsoft officially released the latest version of its Windows Operating System on October 5, 2021. There are many great updates that will make users’ lives easier, but you might be curious about what IT means.
1. Make sure that all devices meet the minimum requirements. Windows 11 can only be run on computers that meet the minimum hardware requirements. It may be pre-installed on new computers, or you can upgrade Windows 10 PCs. It will work with any version of Microsoft Office that you have installed on your workstations. However, Windows 11 will not support older versions of Microsoft Office. As of November 1, 2019, any Office versions prior to 2013 will no longer be supported. You should contact the vendor to confirm compatibility if you are using vendor-supported applications. If you are unsure about the compatibility of any applications, there is good news. Microsoft’s App Assure service will fix any application errors found by your organization if they have 150 users or more. As you migrate your workstations to Windows 11, train your end users. Successful adoption is one of the most important aspects of a successful upgrade. This is an important step that many organizations fail to include in their upgrade plan. Imagine your end users opening up their computers to find a new landscape. Investing in enduser training not only helps reduce confusion but also builds excitement about the benefits of the upgrade.
